Hyaluronic Acid Skinboosters
What are skin boosters?
Skin boosters are hyaluronic acid injections meant to provide long lasting, intense hydration to the skin from within. Hyaluronic acid is capable of binding up to 1000 times its own molecular weight in water, therefore it is the gold standard ingredient in moisturising products such as Dr Bob Remedies Hydromax Essence as well as hydrating treatments such as Silkpeel Dermalinfusion Ultra Hydrating Pro Infusion Serum.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are typically used to replace lost volume, to reduce lines and wrinkles. Skin Boosters are used mainly for hydration and bio revitalisation.
Biorevitalisation
Are skin boosters merely for hydration only? Well, no, because hyaluronic acid when injected into the skin also has a bio revitalisation function.
Bio Revitalisation is a procedure focused on the repair of damaged tissues. Injecting the skin with hyaluronic acid stimulates our body to produce our own collagen and activates metabolism under the skin hence promoting skin rejuvenation.
In summary, bio revitalisation function of Hyaluronic acid injection is as follows
- Stimulates collagen production
- Increase skin elasticity
- Provide antioxidant function
- Speed up wound healing
- Lessen inflammation
Skin booster bio revitalisation is recommended for almost anyone, especially when we age as our own hyaluronic acid begins to decline significantly. Our skin would start to lose moisture, leading to dryness, loss of tone and elasticity and higher tendency for inflammation.
Because of bio revitalisation benefits, skin boosters are also very beneficial for patients who are dealing with acne scars.
Different skin boosters available in Malaysia
There are many brands of skin boosters on the market, such as the original Restylane Skinboosters, Teosyal Redensity I, and Juvederm Volite. The main difference is in the concentration of hyaluronic acid and the degree of cross-linking.
Restylane Skinboosters replenishes your skin’s natural composition, enhancing elasticity and reducing roughness. This treatment leaves your skin smooth, hydrated and with a refreshed, healthy appearance
How are skin boosters injected?
Skinboosters are either done with an injector device (a.k.a mesogun) or manual injections. It is important to know how to inject the different products, as the different products have different characteristics.
Mesotherapy method is used for non-stabilised hyaluronic acid injection, where the product is injected into various skin layers. Skinboosters that contain stabilised hyaluronic acid must be injected in the area of deep dermis and subcutis instead.
Undesirable effects and results may occur due to too superficial placement of stabilised hyaluronic acid skinbooster such as the development of papules/nodules formation, especially in thin skin. Proper injection by an experienced doctor will be able to avoid these complications.
Do i need to repeat treatment?
Based on the latest guideline, the regimen for skin booster recommends two to three treatment sessions monthly, then the results should last up to a year after completion.
For subsequent maintenance, it is recommended to have another two treatment sessions between 9 to 12 months after the initial treatments.
When will I see results?
Results may vary between individuals, but typically you would be able to appreciate results 1-2 weeks after the treatment. It is best to combine the hyaluronic acid skin booster injections with moisturising serums such as Dr Bob Remedies Hydromax Essence and treatments such as Silkpeel Dermalinfusion Ultra Hydrating Pro Infusion Serum to achieve faster results and to maintain the optimal skin hydration.
