What is Profhilo Structura?
Profhilo Structura is an injectable anti-aging treatment composed of hyaluronic acid used to treat loss of skin elasticity and firmness. It can be used to treat the face, neck, decolletage, arms, hands as well as knees, abdomen or any other part of the body where there are visible signs of aging. Profhilo Structura has won the award for best injectable product in Europe at the Aesthetic Industry Awards.
Profhilo Structura’s patented technology results in the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid at 64mg/2mls. Hyaluronic acid has long been used in skincare, as dermal fillers as well as skin boosters. Having a high concentration of hyaluronic acid sounds great, but is that the only thing that makes Profhilo different from the other hyaluronic acid injectables?
Profhilo Structura bioremodelling facelift
Instead of falling under any of the previous categories of hyaluronic acids, Profhilo Structura has created a new injectable category, bioremodelling.
Skin boosters are used to restore hydration and elasticity to the skin and to produce bio revitalisation effects. The treatment involves injecting low viscosity hyaluronic acid fillers to the middle layers of skin (dermis layer).
Dermal fillers are used to restore volume. These are typically injected into deeper layers of the skin. Hyaluronic acid that are used for dermal fillers are usually cross-linked to ensure longer lasting effects. However, this crosslinking makes them unsuitable for more superficial injections, where they may end up causing lumps.
Profhilo Structura is different in that they are used to improve the skin without adding volume like dermal fillers. It is also different from skinboosters in that it has significant tightening and lifting effect on the tissue.
Once injected under the skin, Profhilo Structura disperses quickly and reacts with your own tissues to boost hydration. Over the subsequent 28 days, Profhilo boosts your skin’s production of elastin and collagen. This action remodels your skin, giving it a plumper, smoother, and firmer appearance.
Patented Hybrid Co-operative Complex (HCC)
Profhilo Structura uses a patented thermal process NAHYCO Hybrid Technology cross-linking which changes character and behaviour of hyaluronic acid resulting in formation of co-operative hybrid complexes (HCC) which modulates the tissues.
The natural bonds found in high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (H-HA: 1100-1400kDa) molecules are broken, then new hydrogen bonds are formed between the H-HA and lower molecular weight hyaluronic acid (L-HA: 80-100kDa). It is highly biocompatible as it does not contain chemicals that are used as cross-linking agents such as BDDE.
Profhilo Structura vs other hyaluronic acid
One of the main benefits is longevity. HCC have proven to be very stable with natural enzyme digestion compared to H-HA alone. HCC protects the H-HA, reducing degradation by up to eight times compared to just H-HA alone.
Less inflammation: L-HA released slowly from the HCC and therefore does not trigger the first inflammatory cytokines TGF Beta. This lowers the overall inflammatory cascade, and makes it very biocompatible.
H-HA provides a stable hyaluronic acid architecture in the dermis, giving an excellent volumetric lift effect.
HCC increases expression of Type I, III collagen in fibroblasts as well as Type IV and VII collagen in keratinocytes.
Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP)
Where skin boosters are usually either injected as meso, or spread with a cannula technique, Profhilo Structura uses a 5 point injection technique called the Bio-aesthetic point (BAP).
Due to the gel-like consistency, Profhilo Structura distributes smoothly and evenly without the formation of lumps which is common with traditional dermal fillers. This means it is suitable for difficult to treat areas such as the neck and forehead.
BAP injection technique was developed by a team of surgeons and physicians for the injection of Profhilo Structura. This technique minimises risk while maximising spreadability of the product. The injection points are identified in safe areas far from major vessels, and in areas promoting great diffusion of product.

Post treatment
After the procedure, you might experience little small bumps on your face where the injections took place. These little bumps will usually disappear within half a day, once the hyaluronic acid in Profhilo Structura disperses throughout your skin. There is virtually no downtime associated with the procedure.
How many Profhilo Structura treatments do I require?
Treatment with Profhilo Structura is typically two sessions spaced approximately 4 weeks apart. In more severe cases, a third injection may be recommended approximately 2 months after the second treatment. The duration of effect varies individually, and the treatment may be repeated after approximately 6 months.
